Line and mass... the Lamy pen I use takes an ink which is wonderfully soluble and leads to all sorts of accidental effects and colours... however it is not very lightfast. Never mind; these sketches are in sketchbooks so they hardly fade at all. So sometimes it feels like the right thing to do to finish off the sketch with a wet brush.. or, as in one of the examples above, the side of a pencil, to add shadow or volume.

These are beautiful. I can really feel the weight of the person sitting/standing there even though they are very light and delicate.

Thanks Sheri - they are never perfect but there is usually some part of it that works out and stops you wanting to bin them .. what's a tush? A Canadian term for a certain body part?
